a little about robin

Different Chapters. Same Creative Heart.

Hey, I'm Robin — the artist, designer, and creative mind behind Hey Birdee and Made By Birdee.

My story began in 2017, just seven months after welcoming my second child. Somewhere between motherhood and the everyday chaos of life, I found myself searching for something that was just mine. A creative outlet. Something that made me feel inspired, fulfilled, and a little more like myself.

I found that in art.

It started with calligraphy and wedding decor, then grew into hand-painted signs, wood-burning projects, and creative workshops. I was constantly exploring new mediums, teaching myself new skills, and following whatever sparked my curiosity.

Eventually, I taught myself how to use a scroll saw, and that opened an entirely new world of creativity. I began designing and creating dimensional wood signs, turning simple materials into personalized pieces that told someone else's story.

What started as a creative escape had grown into a business I never could have imagined.

The Evolution of Hey Birdee.

When the pandemic arrived and lumber prices began climbing, I found myself at another crossroads.

Creating physical wood signs was becoming increasingly difficult, but I wasn't ready to walk away from everything I'd built.

So, I found another way to create.

I realized there were so many talented makers who loved working with their hands but needed a little help bringing their ideas to life. I began developing digital templates, refining my own design style, and sharing my creations with fellow scroll saw, laser, and CNC artists.

And just like that, Hey Birdee found a new direction.

As the business grew, I introduced the Maker VIP Membership, giving makers access to monthly free designs, exclusive savings, and product mockups they could use to build their own shops. I wanted to create more than a collection of digital files. I wanted to help other creative people experiment, grow their portfolios, and feel confident turning their skills into something meaningful.

Watching other makers bring my designs to life became one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.

"Art allows me to be vulnerable without being audacious.”

THE HEART BEHIND MADE BY BIRDEE ❤︎

Finding My Way Back to Painting.

But somewhere along the way, I realized something was missing.

I missed making things.

I loved designing digitally, and I was proud of what Hey Birdee had become. But I missed the feeling of holding a paintbrush, getting lost in a project, and watching something come to life right in front of me.

I've always found something special in making art. It allows me to be vulnerable without being audacious. To express myself without having to say a word. It's something that makes me feel beautiful, inspired, and connected to a part of myself that can sometimes get lost in the responsibilities of everyday life.

And I wanted to make room for that again.

Life looks a little different than it did in 2017, and the time required to create dimensional wood signs isn't always easy to find. So rather than trying to recreate what I once had, I returned to something I've loved from the very beginning.

Painting.

That's how Made By Birdee came to life.

Through hand-painted banners and custom creations, I've found a way to reconnect with the simple joy of making something by hand. Each piece gives me an opportunity to explore my creativity while helping someone celebrate a moment that matters to them.

It feels familiar, but it also feels new. And maybe that's exactly what I needed.

INTERLUDE / beyond the studio

  • A Love for Hardwoods

There's something magical about working with hardwoods and watching their natural beauty come to life. I never got to explore them quite as much as I wanted, but they'll always have a special place in my creative heart.

  • Just Add Water

No coffee, no fancy drinks. I'm a water-only kind of gal. Give me a glass of water and a creative project, and I'm happy.

  • Movement Is My Oasis

When I'm not creating, you'll probably find me moving. Whether it's a long run or finding my flow on the yoga mat, movement gives me the same freedom and sense of connection that I find in art.

Two Brands. One Creative Journey.

For a long time, I've felt like every new chapter of my life required me to rewrite the entire book. New circumstances, new responsibilities, new directions — and somewhere in the middle of it all, a search for who I was becoming.

But I'm learning that growth doesn't always mean leaving something behind.

Sometimes it means making room for the different parts of yourself.

Hey Birdee is where I share my love for design, creating digital templates and resources that help other makers bring their ideas to life.

Made By Birdee is where I get to return to my roots, creating by hand and finding inspiration in the little details that make something personal.

They're different expressions of the same creative spirit, and both are equally a part of me.

I don't know exactly what the next chapter will look like, but I know creativity will always be part of the story.

And I'm really glad you're here to be part of it.

With Love, Robin
